For those unfamiliar with the term, board and batten is a type of wall treatment in which narrow wooden boards, or "battens," are installed vertically over a larger, flat surface, or "board." This creates a grid-like pattern that adds texture and depth to a wall. It's a popular choice for farmhouse-style or rustic-inspired spaces, but can also work in a variety of other design styles.
One of the benefits of using board and batten in a nursery is that it can be a relatively quick and easy DIY project. The key is to properly plan and measure out the placement of the battens before starting. You'll want to decide on the width of the battens and the spacing between them, and then use a level and a measuring tape to mark out their placement on the wall. It's also a good idea to sketch out a rough plan or use graph paper to get a sense of how the finished product will look.

Once you have your plan in place, you can begin installing the battens. If you're using pre-made battens, you'll just need to attach them to the wall using screws or nails. If you're making your own battens, you'll need to cut them to size and then attach them to the wall. In either case, be sure to use a level to ensure that the battens are straight.
Once all of the battens are in place, you can paint or stain them to match the rest of the nursery. If you're going for a more polished look, you may want to caulk the seams between the battens and the wall, and then touch up the paint.

In addition to adding visual interest, board and batten can also be a practical choice for a nursery. The battens provide a surface for hanging pictures, shelves, or other decorative items, and the overall effect can help to define the space and make it feel more cohesive.
