Love in Every Letter: Episode 1

Hey friends! Welcome to the very first episode of Love in Every Letter. I’m Sarah, and if you’re new here, Josh and I are the ones behind Timberwood Designs. We create beautiful, heirloom-quality nursery décor made from solid hardwood. We’re all about crafting pieces that are built to last and designed to tell a story. And let me tell you, the stories we get to hear from our customers are the most special part of what we do.

I wanted to share something personal today. You might notice this post feels a little different, and that’s because it is. Life threw me a curveball recently, and I’ve been on quite a journey of my own. After having a hysterectomy, I’ve been recovering, physically and emotionally, for the past few weeks. It’s been challenging, but it’s also been a reminder of just how much our work means to me, especially the connections we make with all of you.

A Special Nursery for a Special Little One

As I’ve been recovering, Josh has been holding down the fort at Timberwood Designs. But even from the sidelines, I’ve been so grateful for the orders that have come through, especially one that really touched our hearts.

This order was for a customer who had just moved into her new home. But this wasn’t just any nursery. This was the nursery she had dreamed of for six long years. After going through a high-risk pregnancy with complications like cholestasis, diabetes, and hypertension, this nursery meant everything to her. It was a space filled with love and hope for the daughter she’d finally be bringing into the world.

Meaning in Every Piece

She ordered a custom nursery name sign, two sets of wooden baby blocks, a rattle, name initial and some beautiful shelves. But each piece was more than just a decoration. They held deep, personal meaning.

Every time I create a personalized name sign, I think about how that name will become part of the child’s identity, how it will be woven into their family story. For this mom, this was more than just a name. It was the symbol of a journey, a miracle, and the love she had for her baby, who would finally be here.

One of the most beautiful parts of this order was the set of wooden baby blocks she requested. She asked for a custom design featuring a peony, which we thought was such a lovely idea. Peonies symbolize prosperity, new beginnings, and most of all, love. But the design itself was a bit tricky. We tried a few versions, and even came up with a tulip as an alternative, but I could tell she really had her heart set on the peony. So, after a little extra effort, we made it happen. I just knew this design would be the perfect fit for her nursery.



The Power Of Personalization 

This is where our work becomes truly magical. The custom baby blocks and name sign weren’t just items for a nursery. They were symbols of this mom’s journey, her strength, and the bond she had already begun to form with her little one.

When you create personalized pieces like we do, you’re not just adding a name to a block or a sign. You’re telling a story. You’re giving a child something that will hold memories for years to come, something they can pass down, and something that connects them to their family’s history.

A Little Surprise

Now, here’s the best part. Josh and I love to go the extra mile for our customers, and this order was no different. Once everything was ready, Josh took it upon himself to hand-deliver the order. That’s right—he drove out to their home with the custom pieces, excited to see how everything would come together.

I have to admit, I was a little sad I couldn’t be there to see the reveal myself, but I know the moment was just as special as it would’ve been if I were there. Imagine the excitement of delivering a custom wooden name sign and baby blocks that held so much meaning. For me, that’s what it’s all about. It’s about seeing a family’s dreams come to life in their nursery, surrounded by the pieces that tell their story.

The Impact of Nursery Décor Beyond the Nursery

There’s something truly powerful about nursery décor. It’s not just about filling a space with cute items; it’s about creating an environment that holds memories, hopes, and dreams. When I think about the nursery we created for this mom, I’m reminded of why I started Timberwood Designs in the first place.

Every piece we create is a small part of a bigger story. And while we may be the ones crafting the name signs, baby blocks, and other décor, it’s you—the families we work with—that make them truly special. You bring the stories, the emotions, and the inspiration. We’re just here to help bring that to life.
